Activities

From barging to sailing, hotair ballooning to hiking; rock climbing and mountain bikes, fishing or painting there is always something to do that will be for you.

The Valley is a great place for outdoor lovers nature lovers, there are miles and miles of tracks, paths and country roads for people on foot, two wheels, four wheels and even in the airs.

Cycling

Cycling in Burgundy

Cycling along the tow-path of canal where you have more than 200 kilometres of gentle slope and not a car in sight. There are no steep parts on the tow-path and a small slope when you arrive at a lock, so it is ideal for children. The regional council have also modified large sections into an exclusive cycling track from Pont de Pany to Dijon.

Enjoy the shade of the trees along the canal and picnic places, or stop in a quite place to have swim in the cool river.

If you are an experienced cyclist, then you can also climb the hills seperating the valey and the main Burgundy vineyards.

If you are unable to bring your own bikes there are places offering the possibility to rent bicycles.

Motor bikes

And for the powered bikes, the roads through the valley are a great program for your outings, alone or in clubs. The country roads follow the river for many miles and have become a favourite destination for bikers.

Golf

There are Golf courses in the area and a project to open a new Golf course near Pont de Pany. We'll keep you informed.

Ballooning

Hotair ballooning

There are various launch sites with different companies who offer flights over the valley, castles, forest and even across the vine yards. You can balloon throughout the year, as long as their is no fog or little wind.

Fishing

The river Ouche and canal are favourite places for local fishermen, but you can also have fun in the nearby reservoirs or if you are mobile, a trip to the river Saone. With brown trout in the river, pike pearch and carp in the canal, there is something for all the anglers.

Walking

There are miles and miles of walk ways for all enthusiast, from casual to good hiking in the forect and hills. It is also possible to use the experience of local guides who know the local area. They know the ancient paths used by the Romans and Cistercian monks.
