Châteauneuf-en-Auxois
Description
The fortified village of Chateauneuf as listed as on of France's most beautiful, covering a 1006 hectres at 475 metress above sea-level for 83 inhabitants. On the left bank of river, 15 kilometres north West of Bligny sur Ouche. The village overlooks the Auxois plain and faces the South.

The medieval castle built by Jean de Chaudenay in the 11th century dominates the landscape. The small streets has many homes built centuries ago. The church and chapel from the 15th century can also be visited.
Within the village you'll find two cafes, restaurants, a hotel a gites. The are many events throughout the year, such as the Medieval Market held every two years, musical concerts, antique fairs and the Christmas Eve mess.
The vues across the Auxois, the reservoirs of the Canal and distant Morvan hills are great opportunites for photos.
Cycling up to the village from the canal is a good challange !
