Chaudenay-le-Château

Description

Chaudenay-le-Château covers 527 hectres for 36 inhabitants and is at 400 metes above sea-level, 12 kilometres from Bligny sur Ouche, a small farming village dominated by the impressive fortified castle built on the rocks.

To see and do...

The castle was built by Jean de Chaudenay in 1021 A.D. a few years before he began the construction of Chateauneuf a few miles away. Although it is private property, the castle opens its doors occasionaly to expose art works created by the current owner Kevin Perch.

The village has also recreated the old school and is open for visits, which offers an insight to how the small schools in the French villages used to be.
